Men’s health is our passion this month–specifically talking about that wonderful, glorious, prostate gland. The prostate is important in sexual functions as it creates semen and ejaculation. The prostate is located below the bladder and next to the colon.
The best ways to keep your prostate healthy from Harvard University are:
1. Eat more vegetables and fruits.
3. Eat good fats and reduce sugar.
The correlation with poor diet, excess weight, and poor lifestyle show a reduction in prostate function and sexual abilities, along with greater chances for disease.
Changing how or how often you move, cook, and eat will be the best ways to improve prostate health. Country Quinoa Soup
From Standard Process’ 1 Degree of Change
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups onions, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons mild curry powder
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 apple, peeled and chopped (Granny Smith are best.)
1 cup quinoa, rinsed
3 tablespoons dried currants or chopped raisins
2 cups tomatoes, chopped
6 cups vegetable broth
1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Sea salt and pepper
In a large pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and
red pepper. Cook, stirring, for 6-8 minutes or until softened.
Add garlic, curry powder, ginger, and cayenne. Cook an additional
30 seconds. Stir in apple, quinoa, currants, tomatoes, and broth.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for
15-20 minutes or until quinoa is tender. Stir in cilantro. Season
